Pioneering Produced Water Recycling in the Permian
Select Water Solutions is at the forefront of sustainable water management in the Permian Basin, driving initiatives to recycle and reuse produced water through extensive water infrastructure development and innovative technologies.

500,000 Barrels in One Day
A combination of scale and expertise allows us to supply the largest frac locations in the country with recycled produced water. In May 2025 Select was able to supply a single day facility record of 500,000 barrels of produced water in a single day to an operator in the Permian.
The Permian Basin Infrastructure Story
Our strategically located assets, supported by long-term customer contracts, deliver reliable and environmentally responsible solutions that significantly reduce freshwater demand, decrease truck traffic, and optimize water reuse.
We’re building the largest commercial water recycling network in North America for use in oil and gas operations. Treating produced water changes the economics of oil and gas production in the Permian, but requires investment to link and balance the output of producing wells.
Permian Infrastructure Highlights
3.4 Million Barrels Per Day Recycling Capacity
Our daily throughput at our combined facilities is over 3.4 millions barrels per day. Many of our facilities capable of treating over 200,000 barrels of produced water per day and we recently had a single day single facility supply record of over 500,000 barrels to a nearby completion.
25 Million Barrels of Produced Water Storage
Balancing the water needs of operators is made possibles though our significant storage capacity in the Permian. Select accomplishes this through large in-ground impoundments and above-ground storage strategically placed to accommodate the draw down requirements on a given job.
Over 1,000 Miles of Pipelines
Linking our facilities is a vast network of permanent pipelines that gather and transfer treated and untreated produced water. Intricate management of these pipelines is managed automatically using proprietary software.
Over 280 Million Barrels Recycled in 2024
Last year we recycled more water than ever and continue to set ambitious goals guided by our sustainability-linked credit facility.
Landmark Facilities Driving Sustainability
Across the region, Select’s produced water infrastructure includes more than a dozen large-scale recycling facilities — including flagship sites like South Curtis Ranch, Lost Tank, and Jesse James, each of which process hundreds of thousands of barrels per day. These operations not only reduce the industry’s reliance on freshwater but also help operators maintain production with consistent, high-volume water solutions.

Midland Basin
South Curtis Ranch
Operational since March 2021, the South Curtis Ranch facility, in collaboration with Occidental Petroleum, has successfully treated and recycled over 50 million barrels of produced water. This facility exemplifies the benefits of long-term water programs and infrastructure designed to collect produced water from a vast network of production wells, thereby reducing freshwater consumption and waste.
Delaware Basin
Lost Tank Facility
Launched in 2022, the Lost Tank facility in Lea County, New Mexico, has rapidly scaled its operations, processing up to 180,000 barrels per day and reaching a milestone of 50 million barrels of recycled water.
Supported by 1.9 million barrels of storage and a 13-mile pipeline connecting to Occidental’s Mesa Verde assets, this facility highlights the effectiveness of integrated water systems in reducing environmental impact.
