Select to Acquire Pilot Water Solutions
Select has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Pilot Water Solutions, a step that strengthens a strategy already in motion. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, and Pilot’s network in the Delaware Basin, including its disposal capacity and pipeline reach across New Mexico and Texas, will complement Select’s existing recycling infrastructure. Together, the two systems are expected to create a more complete platform for handling produced water across the core of the Permian, from recycling through disposal.
The agreement also builds on Select’s infrastructure-led business, with Water Infrastructure projected to represent approximately 70% of Select’s pro forma profitability by 2027. As John Schmitz put it, the acquisition will help the company “strongly advance our previously stated objective of growing our consolidated profitability-weighting towards our Water Infrastructure segment.” Pilot’s contract portfolio, weighted toward investment-grade operators on multi-year commitments, is expected to reinforce that foundation.
Expanding Our Footprint
On a combined basis, the two networks are expected to form a platform with 3.8 million barrels per day of recycling capacity, 4.8 million barrels per day of combined active and undeveloped permitted disposal capacity, over 1,600 miles of pipeline, and approximately 57.0 million barrels of treated and produced water storage capacity. Once complete, the deal should also position Select to capture value across more of the produced water lifecycle, including future opportunities in recycling and mineral extraction.
